Notes: At the North Mountain trail junction, take the right trail to Granite Flats. After another .8 miles you will come to a meadow with another junction. Left goes to Community Flat; Right goes to the south saddle via Box Elder Cirque. From the junction, continue following the left trail in a north east direction. Now is probably a good time to tell you that you have an additional 1000 feet to climb 7

Notes: Dry Creek is a popular trailhead with hikers and horse riders, located in the northeast corner of Alpine. It is one of the few trailheads left in Alpine that does not cross private land and is assured of never being cut off by development. The trailhead is at the end of the road that goes past the Alpine Rodeo Grounds.

Notes: It is the saddle north of Box Elder Peaks dividing the Deer Creek drainage (Granite Flat) from the Dry Creek drainage (Alpine). If you are looking for a good place to camp overnight, this is a good place to do it. Hunters use it as a base during hunting season.
