Hiking in Utah's Wasatch Mountains

Most people take the Timp Cave trail to get to the cave. I occasionally hike it early in the year to get in shape for other hikes. People always give me a weird look when I tell them I’m not actually going in the cave. Some people just don’t understand why you would climb that hill, just to turn around and go back.

• The hike is 1.5 miles and you climb 1000ft. The people at the ticket office say to give yourself 1.5 hours.
• The views are great. The cave is really interesting.
• For even a shorter, less strenuous hike, walk across the road and go west for about 500ft. There’s the trail entrance for the Swinging Bridge Nature Trail. It’s a short interpretive trail the kids will love.
