Notes: The trail follows Wide Hollow up to Angel Flat, where you should take the left fork. At 2.3 miles you are at the head of Wide Hollow where the trail curves to the south. Follow it as it climb and wraps around the south end of South Box Elder. At this point you are looking down Tank Canyon. Mt Timpanogos does not look bad either. 8

Area Location: East on Timpanogos Hwy (SR92), exit 284 in Utah County

Notes: Drive past the main trailhead parking on the right a few hundred feet after Granite Flats CG shack. The parking lot you are looking for is another tenth mile. Park in the group picnic area on the right after crossing the bridge. The trail leaves from the west end of the lot. Parking is free for hikers.

Notes: At 1.9 miles you will come to a junction in a meadow named Angel Flat. The right fork goes to the north saddle via White Canyon. The left junction takes you to the south saddle. The peak to the west is not Box Elder, that is a false summit.


Destination
Box Elder South Peak
 Elevation: 10610  Feature: Peak
Notes: If you get anywhere near the south saddle of Box Elder and decide you can not go on, consider turning south and heading for this peak. It is not as high and you can get great shots of Box Elder or down the rugged Tank Canyon into AF Canyon.
