Notes: Follow the trail past the 2nd Hamongog and onto the granite. Once the ridge to the west (left) is passable, head that direction. You should see cairns to follow. Wrap around the end of the west summit block to enter the cirque. 6

Notes: To get to the Schoolhouse Springs trailhead, follow the main road north through Alpine. It will eventually curve to the east. Turn north on Grove Street. It goes north with a sharp 90 degree curve to the east. Take the first left after the curve, then the first left off that road. Follow the dirt road to the Lehi Water Tank. The trail starts when you crawl through the gate.

 Elevation: 7100  Feature: Meadow
Notes: First, what is a hamongog? In this instance, it means moutain meadow. The name is derived from a reference in the bible meaning Valley of the multitudes of Gog. The trail is to this meadow is somewhat boring. However, all trails leading away are fantastic. The trail splits here, the left for continues to 2nd Hamongog and the right trail go to East Hamongog.

 Elevation: 8150  Feature: Meadow
Notes: It is a good sized meadow surrounded on most sides by conifers. It is an excellent place to camp overnight if you want to rest before hitting the higher peaks.

 Elevation: 10340  Feature: Cirque
Notes: It sits at the bottom of a 600 foot wall of rock, and a worthy destination for a day hike.
